Summer Tone Up!

Image
Today starts another 6 week challenge with Tone It Up!  I love that Tone It Up team are always having challenges. It helps me focus and refocus when I lost my way. Honestly, I need it.  I always start off strong and then fall off about half way though the challenges. It's not easy to stay focused when you're a busy mother of 2 boys whose whole diet consists of Macaroni and cheese, hamburgers and spaghetti.... so rather than fight with them I just give in. And so when they eat that crap so do I. And don't forget the sweets!  I'm so addicted to sugar it's not even funny. I LOVE cake. Like love, can never say no LOL   And on top of my knee injury that prevents me from many types of exercises I want to do, and the kids being home for summer break really limits my time at the gym.  But I'm not going to make excuses anymore!  There are too many workouts online and YouTube to make not going to the gym my excuse for not working out.  Just have to f

2015 Race Recap

Wrote this blog back in 2015 and for some reason never posted it! So here it goes........ This is probably something I should have done at the tail end of 2015, but since the blogging bug just recently bit me I decided to do it now.  I'm mostly writing this for me as a reflective look on the past year. I didn't have particularly the best racing times or many PRs but I am proud of all that I did last year. So happens during the early part of last year I was racing a lot. It wasn't my intention it just circumstances just had it fall that way. On February 1st, I ran a race with a group of people from work. Then there was my half marathon 2 weeks later, then 2 weeks after that the Airport Runway race was rescheduled for the end of February, after that it just snowballed to the point I was doing a 5K race every 2 weeks. It was actually kind of fun and a little expensive but 2 of those races I got for free for volunteering and one race I only paid $5 for after a discount code

My First Peachtree Road Race

PRR Health and Fitness Expo Start line How do I describe being apart of the largest 10K race in the world in one word? FABULOUS! To date the largest race I've ever done was the Miami Marathon, which had about 25,000 people registered. That race alone was overwhelming with so many people so I couldn't even imagine what 60,000 racers looked like. And being new to the city of Atlanta I wasn't even sure who, what, where and how it all worked. The logistics of just getting to the start line seemed overwhelming. And something I'm learning about myself recently is that I get major anxiety when I'm in situations that I'm unfamiliar with.  I need to know the ins and outs of everything before I start to feel remotely comfortable. Which is why I haven't ventured out much into the Atlanta metro area. Start Line So when I learned that the best way to get to the race was to take the MARTA (train) I was all the way out of my comfort zone. I've taken

Guess who's back?

It's me!  Yes I'm back blogging again.  Talk about a roller coaster ride I've been on the last few years.  My last post was 2 and half years ago.  I can't believe how much time has passed.  But I've had many changes in my life since then.  Biggest change is that after 30 years I have left the state of Florida. I moved to Florida from Connecticut when I was 12.  So basically I've called Florida home for most of my life. The thought of moving to another state terrified me. I loved living in Florida! Tropical weather all year long, easy access to the beach, hurricanes, alligators swimming in your nearest canal... ok maybe the last couple items weren't fun but you took the good with the bad. Husband's first office party!  Then my husband got a great opportunity at a company based out of Atlanta, Ga. I didn't want to move but this was a great opportunity for him and his career. The goal was for me to find a position here in higher education here i
