Water Aerobics!

BGR-Synchronize swim??
So my next  installment of "Workouts I do so you don't have too..."  was water aerobics!  Now I know what you're thinking because I was thinking it too.  You immediately had visions of little old women in  a pool as you gently moved through the water sort of like a wet ballet.  But this was far from it. It was actually pretty fun.  One of the members of my running group hipped us to the class at the Pompano Aquatic Center. Great thing was that it was only $3.50 for the class.
I was late because I got lost, thanks to Google who said the aquatic center was on 20th Ave and not 18th! UGH!  But once I found it I was in the pool in a matter of minutes.  Our instructor was pretty young, not more than 25 years old and she had legs I would have killed for!  Not an ounce of fat anywhere!  LOL.
We did sprints, jumps, fast kick ups all in the water. Now anyone who's ever done this on land knows how hard these can be, imagine doing it with the water resistance trying its best to keep your legs from moving!  After that we did side lunges across the pool and then did squats. Then we moved on to arms. We held these foam dumbbells while we did arms raises under the water. The water provided the perfect resistance.  My arms were sore after that work out but it felt good. Then we moved on to abs. We were giving noodles and moved to the deeper end of the pool where we had to do crunches while holding ourselves up. I had to hang to the side of the pool for most of the abs exercises. Guess my abs aren't are strong as I thought. That and I didn't want to get my hair wet. Had a girl's afternoon that day so I had to make sure my hair was cute!  LOL

All in all I thought the class was definitely cool and for $3.50 it was a real steal.  I'd do again!
Our instructor up front had some awesome legs!

  1. I have a Soror who does a class like that! The one at my gym isn't as challenging I may go try that class she takes at YMCA! Thanks! Good post!
