PRR or bust!

Image
Hello boys and girls!  It's me again. The inconsistent blogger. Ha! I should totally change the name of my blog to that  LOL!  But I'm back at it again.  I'm so excited. I was accepted into the Peachtree Road Race for the 4th of July this year. I had to enter the lottery this year because I didn't join the Atlanta Track Club, which guarantees you entry. I entered the lottery on March 15th and they let us know if we were accepted on April 2nd.  I happen to be up (insomnia) at 2am and checked my email and sure enough I got the email telling me I was in! I would have been so disappointed if I wasn't selected. Next year I'm just going to go ahead and join the Atlanta Track Club to guarantee my entry because waiting to see was too nerve racking. If you don't know what the Peachtree Road Race (PRR) is, it's the biggest 10K (6.2 miles) race in the US, if not the world. There are over 60,000 participants in this race.  I completed the race last year

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I am a self proclaimed Christmas Freak!  Yes I am  LOL. And I'm not ashamed. Some years are better than others in my mania. But since I didn't get to decorate my house for Christmas last year because of the move I may have overcompensated this year.  Much to my husband's chagrin. In his words it looks like Christmas threw up in my house. But really it's not THAT bad. Pink and Green Tree- 2016 I've had my fall decorations up since the end of August so I was ready to move on. But I didn't want to hide them away altogether so I moved them to the front sitting room. Which I'll probably leave there until the holiday season is over. I wanted to continue with the Farmhouse scheme and after doing a survey of all my Christmas stuff I've collected over the  years it looked like I would be having to getting a lot of new stuff.  The year before my tree was pink and green and I was sure that I was going to continue that theme for years to come. So a

....And Things

So when I started this blog many, many years ago it was primarily a fitness blog. Around that time I was just becoming fitness minded so I was learning all these new things about food and exercise. Moving to Georgia has put me on a journey of self-discovery in ways I didn't even imagine. It's been exciting but it's been hard at times.  I've had to rethink the question of "Who am I?" As a working woman I always identified myself as that first. I was a working woman before I was a wife and a mother. Those were just added responsibilities that I chose. But since moving to Georgia I had to refocus. My plan was to find a job once we got settled in here. But we realized that I didn't have to jump into a job just because we needed the money. So that left me wondering if I didn't have any limitations what is it that I wanted to do? Well I'm still working that out. LOL. But in the mean time I'm working on other areas of my life. Back in Florida I nev

Summer Tone Up!

Today starts another 6 week challenge with Tone It Up!  I love that Tone It Up team are always having challenges. It helps me focus and refocus when I lost my way. Honestly, I need it.  I always start off strong and then fall off about half way though the challenges. It's not easy to stay focused when you're a busy mother of 2 boys whose whole diet consists of Macaroni and cheese, hamburgers and spaghetti.... so rather than fight with them I just give in. And so when they eat that crap so do I. And don't forget the sweets!  I'm so addicted to sugar it's not even funny. I LOVE cake. Like love, can never say no LOL   And on top of my knee injury that prevents me from many types of exercises I want to do, and the kids being home for summer break really limits my time at the gym.  But I'm not going to make excuses anymore!  There are too many workouts online and YouTube to make not going to the gym my excuse for not working out.  Just have to f

2015 Race Recap

Wrote this blog back in 2015 and for some reason never posted it! So here it goes........ This is probably something I should have done at the tail end of 2015, but since the blogging bug just recently bit me I decided to do it now.  I'm mostly writing this for me as a reflective look on the past year. I didn't have particularly the best racing times or many PRs but I am proud of all that I did last year. So happens during the early part of last year I was racing a lot. It wasn't my intention it just circumstances just had it fall that way. On February 1st, I ran a race with a group of people from work. Then there was my half marathon 2 weeks later, then 2 weeks after that the Airport Runway race was rescheduled for the end of February, after that it just snowballed to the point I was doing a 5K race every 2 weeks. It was actually kind of fun and a little expensive but 2 of those races I got for free for volunteering and one race I only paid $5 for after a discount code
